Join us for our May Young Professionals meeting on Tuesday, May 3rd at Level Wine Bar @ 4:45PM!
Simon Vale, a fellow young professional from New Zealand will be speaking at our May meeting. Part of our YP mission statement emphasizes global awareness and we are looking forward to what he has to share with us.
Simon has a major in physical geography with backgrounds in chemistry and earth science and has recently completed his doctoral studies in New Zealand through Massey University and a government owned research institute known as Landcare Research. His most recent research has focused on implementing a geochemical technique called ‘sediment fingerprinting’ as a means to identifying key sources of erosion and environmental degradation within areas surrounding river systems.
Previous research has involved modelling water resources and sub-surface structures of glaciers in New Zealand. Simon has also served on the executive committee for the New Zealand Geographical Society (NZGS) as the national Post-Graduate Network (PGN) representative coordinating activities and conference workshops in New Zealand.
