Description
In the face of growing development pressure, the Booth Society Inc. launched an initiative to protect the watershed, habitat and historic integrity of the beloved D.C. Booth hatchery. Spread the Tunes, Inc. is joining in on the DC Booth Society’s fundraising campaign to help finance the purchase of 64.62 acres of undeveloped land adjacent to the hatchery to the west, behind its museum. This land is important to many species of native and migratory birds, plants and wildlife including the rare Black Hills mountain snail (Oreohelix cooperi). The group recently closed on the land, which was previously owned by Evon (Ward) Breeding, as an expansion of the hatchery’s operations. So far, the Booth Society has raised more than $350,000 towards the $642,500 purchase price and are now inviting donors, public and private, to join the fundraising efforts.
Join us on Monday, September 30th from 6-8:30 PM in the Spearfish City Park Pavilion for a social evening of music, local food, drinks and a silent auction! Spread the Tunes has brought in Minneapolis duo The Lowest Pair and local favorite Jami Lynn to entertain for a fun evening of fundraising and fellowship.
With your renewed support the Booth Society Land Acquisition team intends to pay off the remaining balance of $300,000 within a year. Please continue to stand with us as we enter the final phase of this exciting campaign.
Thank you for your support!
Together, we can conserve, preserve, and protect this land for everyone.
