Description
In this session, you will learn the basics of beadwork with Jace Decory and Michael Lekberg. This is a FREE event.
Although Lakota porcupine quillwork is oftentimes associated with the Lakota people as the foremost ancient art form, beading and beadwork of the 1800s swiftly became associated with the Lakota as their premier art form. Michael Lekberg and Jace DeCory will explore the history of beads and beading by sharing typical examples of the past, as well as contemporary beaded items. Participants will be introduced to the diversity of beading techniques, and by hands-on learning of the Lazy (Line) Stitch. Workshop suited for young adults and adults.
