Description
Gold Camp Players Community Theatre Presents 'A Night/Afternoon of One Acts' LEAD, SD ? The Gold Camp Players community theatre group will present A Night of One Acts at 7:00 pm on January 22-23, 2016; and at 2:00 pm on January 24, 2016 at the Historic Homestake Opera House at 313 W. Main Street, Lead, SD. Three one-act plays will be performed: Twitch by Stephen Gregg; Abra Cadaver by John Mattera; and The Haunted Auditorium by Rosemary Owens. The plays are directed by Lee Ann Paananen of Lead, SD. Twitch, by Stephen Gregg: Nancy (Wendy Schamber) and Don (Rob Andresen), a young married couple, are arguing. Nancy thinks the new neighbors are creepy. She thinks they're watching them. Don thinks she's imagining things. And what happened to the previous neighbors who vanished overnight with no warning? As the doorbell rings, Don asks, why did Nancy invite them over? There stand the new neighbors, who are every bit as strange as Nancy said they would be. Now Don and Nancy are torn between wanting to find out who they are and wanting to get rid of them. But that won't be easy, because Emma (Robyn Kyte) and Aiden (Joel Edgar) have an agenda of their own, and it's stranger than anyone could have imagined. Abra Cadaver, by John Mattera: This gem of a murder mystery has been constructed with consummate playwriting skill. With more twists than a mountain road, your audience will gasp as each new turn is revealed. As the play starts, Jack (Rob Andresen) and his girlfriend Christine (Wendy Schamber) plot to kill Marie, Jack's wife (Jesse Ziebart). Then we find that Christine has informed Marie of the plot and they are working together to do in the unsuspecting Jack. However, Jack is working on another scheme and so is Marie! Added to the mystery is Sid Parker (Diana Mathisrud.) Just as you think you've got it all worked out, there's an even more astonishing switch. The Haunted Auditorium, by Rosemary Owens: Joyce Ellis (Jesse Ziebart) is a drama teacher who has announced tryouts for the senior play. A former elderly custodian named Mr. Karns (Andy Mosher), appears and warns her the play must not be performed because of a ghost in the auditorium. As Mr. Karns becomes angry and threatening, the drama teacher realizes her life may be in danger. A student, Nancy Wilson (McLayne Kyte), and Ms. Gray (Robyn Kyte) the regular custodian, arrive with a doctor from a nearby nursing home, Dr. Gentry (Diana Mathisrud). The elderly former custodian is taken away. Joyce relaxes and resumes her plans for the show. In an unforeseen reversal, danger looms again with overtones of the unearthly. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 HHOH members, $5 students (17 and younger with high school or college ID).
