Description
Gold Camp Players Children's Play Charming and After Hours at the Homestake Opera House LEAD, SD - The Wicked Stepmothers Association proudly invites the public to attend two community theatre children’s plays on Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16, 2016, at 1:00 pm at the Historic Homestake Opera House located at 313 West Main Street in Lead. The Wicked Stepmothers Association is an imaginary group featured in one of the two plays, Charming! The other featured play titled After Hours includes funny mannequins with personalities. The humorous plays, sponsored in part by the Walt and Francis Green Charitable Trust, are directed by Dave Scherer and assisted by Lindsy Thomas with student direction by Katie Tieman, all of Lead, SD. The plays selected for the Gold Camp Players 14-and-younger actors are comedies in which all ages will appreciate. A bake sale with tasty homemade treats and desserts will be offered with all proceeds benefitting ongoing operations, programming, and restoration projects at the Historic Homestake Opera House. Coffee, soda and water are also available for purchase. Reservations are not required with open seating (first-come, first served.) To purchase tickets by credit card, call the office at 605-584-2067 or online at HomestakeOperaHouse.org or purchase at the door. The plays are produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Englewood, Colorado. CHARMING!: Once upon a time, the Wicked Stepmothers’ Association tried to get rid of all the frogs, but one frog escaped – and then became Prince Charming. In a hysterical scene the likes of which your stage has never seen before, the stepmothers devise so many princesses and others who need rescuing that poor Prince Charming feels like he’s in a decathlon. AFTER HOURS: Two lively mannequins, LuAnn and Patty, have been waiting all day for a chance to loosen up. When they discover fellow mannequin Danny has been delivered in the wrong crate, the night really gets interesting! To add to the fun and suspense, the burglars and mannequins are almost caught by the near-sighted security guard and some late-night window shoppers. With great comic dialogue and stage action, this is a crazy award-winning comedy popular with all ages. Free parking is available in the back of the building, and also free off-street and lot parking within four blocks or less from the theater. The building is wheelchair accessible.
