Celebration of Life of Black Hills Musician Kenny Miller to be hosted in Lead, SD LEAD, SD - In late autumn 2017, the Black Hills music community lost a longtime member, Kenny Miller, who passed away due to health-related issues. Members of Kenny’s family, friends, former bandmates and fellow musicians, are gathering to remember and pay tribute to Kenny’s memory and legacy. A Celebration of Life for Kenny Miller is being held on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the Homestake Opera House in Lead, SD, at 313 W. Main Street, starting at 4:00pm and ending at 8:00 pm. Memorial donations at the event will be directed to help offset medical and living expenses for Kenny’s wife, Cheryl. Donations may also be sent to: Kenny Miller Memorial, 146 N. Merrill Rd #38, Apache Junction, Ariz., 85120. Several acts will be performing, including headliners Williams & Ree, as well as local bands and musicians. Opportunity will be provided for those who wish to say a few brief words or share a memory they have about Kenny Miller. Please contact musician Chet Murray at chet.murray@yahoo.com for information on performing. Kenny Miller was inducted into the South Dakota Rock And Roll Music Hall of Fame in 2012. For more than forty years Kenny has been a local legend in Western SD and opened for many national acts, including the Beach Boys, Alan Jackson, Blake Shelton, Glen Campbell, the Marshall Tucker Band, Foreigner, Tanya Tucker, among others. Kenny has recorded a dozen CDs, including two which contain original material. He also spent time in Nashville from 1978 to 1982. His versatility allowed him to perform spot-on tribute shows, performing the music of Elvis, Roy Orbison, Mary Robbins, Waylon Jennings, Kenny Rogers, and Merle Haggard. Friends and fans of Kenny are encouraged to participate by sending in digital photos for a slideshow. The building is wheelchair accessible and plenty of free parking is available on Main Street and all within 3 blocks of the building.
