Description
BHSU Summer Stage is back again and ready to kick off their 10th anniversary season! The stock theatre company is composed of Black Hills State University students, alumni, and staff, and in less than two months they are given scripts and blueprints to create three entirely different comedic productions. Our musical is our second show this season, with lyrics and music by Stephen Sondheim, and book by Larry Gelbart and Bert Shevelove. This comedic musical tells the story of Pseudolus, a slave who attempts to win his freedom by helping Hero, his young master, win over the heart of the beautiful virgin Phelia. The production is filled with classic elements of farce, including puns, the slamming of doors, cases of mistaken identity (frequently involving characters disguising themselves as one another), and satirical comments on social class. There’s “something for everyone – a comedy tonight!” First week of performances are June 9, 10, and 11 at 7:30 PM and June 12 at 2:30 PM. Second week of performances are June 16, 17, and 18 at 7:30 PM and June 19 at 2:30 PM. The Black Box theatre is located in BHSU Woodburn (3rd floor).
