DESCRIPTION:SDSU Extension will host an Heirlooms: Wisdom Writing Workshop on August 16\, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Spearfish Senior Center (1306 N. 10th St.\, Spearfish\, SD 57783). Join Leacey Brown\, SDSU Extension Gerontology Field Specialist\, and Molly Barari\, South Dakota Humanities Scholar for a dynamic 2-hour workshop blending reflection\, creativity\, and resilience. Through guided writing activities and thoughtful discussion\, participants will explore the growth\, wisdom\, and perspective that come with aging. Brown and Barari foster an engaging learning environment that encourages participants to embrace their lived experiences. The workshop also highlights how writing can support coping during challenging times. Discuss attitudes and beliefs about younger and older age groups. Identify factors that influence outcomes in older age. Learn about the theory of gerotranscendence. Explore the wisdom you have gained during your life. This workshop is free and open to the public.
