DESCRIPTION:Dr. Kullerd presents a 2-hour workshop to help caregivers identify the stages of dementia. With the right support and care\, individuals with dementia will "shine". Learners will develop new skills to approach\, cue and connect with individuals. Two techniques\, "Positive Physical Approach" and "Hand Under Hand" are presented. These techniques allow the caregiver to match their helping behaviors to the demented person's needs and retained abilities. Use of these care approaches promote a sense of control and self direction resulting in less conflict and behaviors. The workshop utilizes materials and content developed by Teepa snow\, MS\, OTR/L\, FAOTA\, on of America's leading educators in dementia education.
