SUMMARY:"Nature" - an outdoor walking play
DESCRIPTION:The Black Hills Playhouse and Black Hills Energy\, in association with TigerLion Arts\, present Nature\, an outdoor walking play celebrating the dynamic connection between humanity and the natural world in five performances from Thursday\, August 29 through Sunday\, September 1. Thanks to generous donations from the Oswald Family Foundation\, Black Hills Energy\, and other sponsors\, the BHP presents this special theatre experience taking place over Labor Day Weekend to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Custer State Park.\n\nThis poignant story of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau\, has proven to be a resounding success. It has been heralded as "One of the Most Striking Performances" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune\, and by critics as " truly one of the special and unique theatre experiences ever ". \n\nNature was co-written by the four times great grandson of Ralph Waldo Emerson\, who also plays his famous grandfather in the show. Other cast members include his two young sons\, who are\, of course\, also Emerson descendants.\n\nThe "walking" part of the play happens as audience members walk between four sets installed in a meadow located by the State Game Lodge. As each act concludes\, actors and audience members travel to next the next scene accompanied by musicians playing period pieces and a community chorus. \n\n\n\nNature is an extraordinary\, family-friendly journey that co-mingles story\, spirit\, and nature\, as a means to reconnect its audience with the natural world. In 2019 Custer State Park will celebrate its 100th birthday. In 2020\, the Black Hills Playhouse will have been in the Park for 75 years. This extraordinary longstanding partnership has resulted in decades of cultural experiences in Custer State Park
