Description
DEADWOOD – Deadwood History’s Chinese New Year Party will be held at the Adams Museum on Saturday, February 18, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for students in grades K-6. The workshop is $11 per child, and $6 for museum members. Please call Shantel Pettit, Education Director, at 605-578-1657 for reservations or more information. Reservations are required.
Chinese New Year is the main festival in China every year. Children will learn how Chinese New Year is celebrated and why this holiday is so important to Chinese culture and Deadwood too. Students will learn what the Year of the Rooster means for 2017. The workshop will also include a Chinese style lunch, a craft project, and a red envelope ceremony. Participants will meet at the Adams Museum, 54 Sherman Street, Deadwood.
The workshop is co-sponsored by the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission, Deadwood History, Adams-Mastrovich Family Foundation, Bill Haas, The William Karl and Laura L. Haas Educational Endowment, The Walter and Francis Green Trust, Edith Wong and Beatrice Wong, and Jade Palace.
