Description
The communities of the Black Hills are coming together to support the families affected by the fatal house fire in Spearfish on April 1, 2017. The families are extremely grateful for the outpouring of thoughts, prayers, donations, and support.
National Mutual Benefit of Spearfish has organized a Caring Communities Benefit to be held on Sunday, April 23 from 3:30-7:30 at the Spearfish Holiday Inn Convention Center. The event will be carnival themed with fun for everyone, including a bouncy castle, photo booth, face painting, silent and live auctions, and live entertainment.
If you would like to donate to the event, or help assist, please contact Eric Skavang at 605-645-0416 or the National Mutual Benefit office at 605-642-4778. They are seeking auction items, including larger ones for the live auction, food vendors, and advertising sponsors. The organizers are also looking for businesses that may be willing to sponsor additional games for the children in attendance. Multiple restaurants have asked be involved, so there will be a wide variety of delicious food. If your food business would also like to participate, please contact Eric at the number listed. There is a food vendor meeting tentatively planned for early next week.
Auction donations for the benefit can be dropped off at locations in Spearfish, Sturgis, and Rapid City. In Spearfish, items may be taken to the National Mutual Benefit office at 1410 N. Main Street. The Sturgis Chamber will be the collection point for their community and are located at 2040 Junction Avenue. For Rapid City, donations can be taken to King Center on the campus of SD School of Mines & Technology between the hours of 9:00 a.m and 4:00 p.m.
Accounts are being set up at Pioneer Bank and Trust for the families impacted by the April 1st tragedy. You may visit the branch in your community to make a monetary donation.
